Speaker: Prof. Adam T. Clare, University of Nottingham

Abstract:

How and what will we manufacture tomorrow?

This lecture will explore the manufacture of some of the high value products (jet engines, airframes, biomedical implants and tooling) that our society is dependent upon. The demand for these is set to rise across the world and in order to meet this demand we must develop more efficient and more effective methods of manufacture.

In this lecture I will highlight several examples where materials processing technologies (Additive manufacturing 3D printing, plasm/electron beam processes and electrochemical techniques) have the potential to drastically enhance the performance of components and equip designers with entirely new design freedoms.

We will also discuss engineering more broadly at the University and highlight opportunities for undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD study. I would be delighted to meet academic staff, industrialists and students alike to share ideas to learn more about Engineering in Turkey.
